About Joncris Sentinel Services
In 1995 John Brady commenced Joncris Sentinel Services with a goal of providing assistance to senior managers at coal mines. The idea grew from a void he identified within the industry while working as a mine manager and a general manager where he didn’t have enough hours in the day to read everything that came across his desk. He wanted a service provider that he could give problems or information to be reviewed and commented on and they would provide him some help.
From that day where John was the only face to the company, we underwent a period of expansion which included at the request of some senior industry people, becoming a Recognised Training Organisation delivered higher order competencies including Deputy, Undermanager, Ventilation Officer and Mine Manager qualifications. The industry downturn coupled with the cost of maintaining the training organisation registration and compliance, meant in 2015 the re-registration was not sought.
Joncris Sentinel Services is located in Rockhampton, Central Queensland. This area is central to coal mines in the central region (out of Rockhampton) and the mines in the northern region (out of Mackay). A large number of businesses who perform work for mines as contractors or service providers are based in the Rockhampton or Mackay and we are therefore, readily accessible to a major part of this industry.
The Joncris Online Learning Centre has been embraced by many coal mines throughout Queensland and New South Wales as refreshers are now available. The accolades have been amazing due to the time it is saving people and as there is no need to take workers out of the workforce.
2013 - June
Joncris Sentinel Services successfully pilots groups of students through the Online Learning Centre. Joncris Sentinel Services moves to the newly refurbished two story site of the old Thai Tahnee Restuarant on the corner of Bolsover and William Street.
Joncris Sentinel Services conscientiously decided to invest heavily into the expansion of the company’s information technology to include an innovative Online Learning Platform that will assist clients in their ability to study where and when time will permit as well as a revitalised Website. The technology that will now be available to all of Joncris Sentinel Services clients will continue to evolve for many years to come. Joncris Sentinel Services vision for the future is impressive to state the least.
Joncris Sentinel Services had well and truly outgrown its headquarters in Cawarral and Michael decided to relocate Joncris Sentinel Services Head Office into the heart of Rockhampton’s Central Business District. This new location also enabled Joncris Sentinel Services to have its very own state of the art onsite training and conference facilities which are easily accessible to the Central Queensland Mining Hub.
John’s son, Michael Brady purchased Joncris Sentinel Services from John and Christine after they decided it was time to retire and pass the reigns onto Joncris Sentinel Services next generation of leaders.
